ABOUT ME

Storyteller at Heart

I am a Scottish author born on the Isle of Skye in 1980. I grew up a bookworm, devouring books upon books, and wrote short stories and terrible poetry in my teenage years. I've developed my storytelling and writing quite a bit since then, but the thrill of language and creation I first discovered as a child has never gone away.

After gaining a first-class degree in Classics, I decided I couldn’t bear time away from books, so studied further to become a qualified librarian. I am currently an Information Specialist for the Royal College of Nursing Scotland and I've been both a school librarian and academic librarian, so books are both part of my day job and what I do in my free time.

I began writing again when pregnant with my first child and wanted to bring stories about animals and environmental issues alive for both my own children and others. I have a deep connection with nature and the Scottish landscape and culture, including Gaelic. I also loves stories about stumbling upon a secret world where magical things can happen. My first novel for older children, The Golden Feather, combines all these elements.
