Last week I was privileged to be invited to my old primary school in the Isle of Skye to talk to P5-P7 children about my book, The Golden Feather. I haven't been back inside my old school for over 25 years, so it was a strange but lovely experience!
Back in my old classroom, I spoke to the kids about how I became a writer and the inspiration behind my book. We talked about magical places and what animal they would love to be for a day. I love hearing how imaginative kids can be and they asked some brilliant questions. I also set a writing challenge to get them inspired and write creatively. The winner will receive a free copy of my book!
"Thanks again for visiting us last week. The kids really enjoyed it and are looking forward to starting the writing challenge this week." Miss McCord, teacher.
Organising an author visit can increase children's interest in books, help them understand how books are published and inspire young writers in your school. If you would like a visit from me to your school, please get in contact.
